Twitter Header Size — 1500×500 X Banner Resizer

Resize a photo to a 1500×500 px (3:1) header for X, formerly Twitter. The tool makes a center crop and downloads a JPG under 2 MB, processed in your browser so the photo is never uploaded.

Your image is processed only in this browser. It is never uploaded to a server, stored or shared, and no account is needed. Check the destination’s current requirements before uploading.

How it works

  1. Choose a wide landscape photo from your phone or computer.
  2. Select Prepare to create a 1500×500 header with a center crop.
  3. Check the preview and keep key content away from the top and bottom edges.
  4. Download the JPG and upload it as your X header.

X header size in pixels: 1500×500 (3:1)

X Help recommends a header image of 1500×500 pixels. That is a 3:1 ratio, a wide strip three times as wide as it is tall. People also call the same image a Twitter banner or cover photo, but it is one and the same slot at the top of your profile.

X gives the size in pixels, not in centimeters or inches, so there is no fixed physical size. How big the header looks depends on the screen. If a design app asks for centimeters or inches, set the pixel dimensions to 1500×500 instead of converting by hand.

How to resize a photo for an X banner

Pick a landscape photo and let the tool fill the 1500×500 frame. It crops around the center of the image instead of stretching it, so a subject in the middle survives while anything near the left or right edge may be trimmed. A photo that is already close to 3:1 loses the least.

X Help also says about 60 px at the top and bottom can be cropped depending on monitor and browser. Keep text, logos and faces in the middle band, which leaves roughly 380 px of safe height (500 minus 60 at each edge), and treat the outer strips as background.

Free, private and quick on mobile or desktop

The tool exports a JPG under 2 MB, which is its own preset and keeps the upload light. A large original is scaled down to 1500×500, so it stays sharp. A small photo that must be enlarged to 1500 px wide will look soft, so start from the biggest original you have.

It is free, needs no sign-up and adds no watermark. Your photo is processed in your browser and is never uploaded, so private pictures stay on your device. It works in a phone browser too: choose a photo from your gallery, download the JPG, then upload it in the X app or on the website. For your round avatar, use our Twitter profile picture page instead.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Twitter header size in 2026?

X Help currently recommends 1500×500 pixels, a 3:1 ratio. This tool exports exactly that size as a JPG.

What is the Twitter header size in cm or inches?

X specifies the header in pixels, so there is no official size in centimeters or inches. Use 1500×500 px; the physical size depends on the screen it is shown on.

What is the safe zone for an X header?

X Help says about 60 px at the top and bottom can be cropped depending on monitor and browser. Keep key content in the middle band of the image.

Why is my Twitter banner blurry or cropped?

A small photo enlarged to 1500 px wide looks soft, so use a larger original. Cropping comes from two places: this tool center-crops to 3:1, and X may trim about 60 px at the top and bottom.

What is the X header size on mobile?

The recommended size is the same 1500×500 px. You can prepare it in your phone's browser, then upload the JPG in the X app. How much is trimmed varies by device and browser.

Is there a free X header size converter?

Yes. Choose a photo, select Prepare and download a 1500×500 JPG with a center crop, under 2 MB. It is free, needs no sign-up, adds no watermark and runs in your browser.
